About the Role:

 

Blue Bottle Coffee is looking for an Art Director who is as passionate about Content and Design as they are about coffee.

 

Reporting to and closely partnering with the Head of Global Brand Creative, the Art Director leads a team on the creative strategy, concepting, design and execution of industry leading global campaigns and content across 360 degree consumer touch points. The ideal candidate is capable of championing refinement, innovation and elevation in a fast-paced environment. The candidate has passion for photography, design, type, and motion as they come together to create innovative, on-brand campaigns that seamlessly solve brand objectives. Strong leadership, presentation and collaboration skills required to manage a team and partner with cross functional departments on both strategy and execution.

 

You will:

  • Support the visual direction for all creative touch points including but not limited to; photography, digital, print, video, etc.
  • Work closely with our Head of Global Creative to develop the visual direction for 360 marketing and seasonal campaigns.
  • Lead the strategy of production planning to support our ongoing content creation needs.
  • Collaborate closely with both internal creative partners, cross functional partners and external partners to realize campaigns and ensure aligned solutions.
  • Provide strategic and creative feedback and lead creative brainstorms and concepting.
  • Participate in the development of content for social media and supply guidance for visual direction on social channels.
  • Develop and evolve our visual guidelines for photography.
  • Manage daily workload for self / direct reports as well as team development. Set clear roles, responsibilities and expectations on projects to ensure that the team’s output is brand appropriate, and all marketing requirements are completed on time, with the highest standards, for both internal and external reviews.
  • Manage the creative approval process and effectively communicate visual direction decisions to internal teams, cross-functional partners and external partners.
  • Provide art direction on set as well as for all post production.
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of coffee and hospitality industries, competitors and trends, as well as consumer cultural shifts to validate decisions.

 

You are:

  • A hands-on and detail-oriented creative with an exceptional eye for great content and design.
  • An innovative and imaginative thinker — finding connections and mining stories through deep thinking and creativity.
  • Comfortable navigating through ambiguous problem spaces in pursuit of clarity and concrete outcomes.
  • Able to juggle multiple projects at once and appropriately prioritize
  • Comfortable taking feedback and creative direction as well as delivering it to team members.
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator, able to effectively distill a lot of information and detail. Ability to communicate on all levels and both internally and with external partners
  • Have an exceptional aesthetic and awareness of design trends and innovation
  • Deeply collaborative, you love working closely with others to find solutions.

 

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A portfolio that shows clear command of concepting and execution of 360 degree campaigns across mediums. (Print, film, digital, social, etc.)
  • 10+ years experience in a creative art direction role or other relevant experience in-house or at an agency
  • Experience in brand-led retail and premium F&B businesses, fashion or luxury retail, and DTC/e-commerce is highly preferred
  • Experience leading film and photography productions and providing creative direction on set.
  • Experience overseeing the post production process for both photography and film.
  • Proven track record for managing and developing talent.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with a global company is preferred.
  • A deep love for great coffee, food, and exceptional customer experiences
