Ours is a hyper-niche, hyper-obsessed, and hyper-engaged demographic that consumes more books than any other genre with 46% reading more than one book per week. Beyond our one-of-a-kind, robust romance book search engine, at Verve, we’re bringing romance off the page and into a woman’s life with articles and products. We combine exclusive (in-house as well as contributor-generated) content with our proprietary social media platform to allow readers, authors, and other industry players to connect. We have registered users from over 150 countries, including 4,000+ published romance authors.
Verve is based in Chicago, IL but our team is distributed remotely so we are looking for candidates from all across the United States. Verve's expansion comes as it has raised $1.5 million in pre-seed funding from a handful of well-known investors, including former 1871 (1871 is #1 ranked private business incubator in the world) CEO Howard Tullman, tastytrade co-CEO Kristi Ross, former Ancestry.com CEO Margo Georgiadis, former Fieldglass CEO Jai Shekhawat and others. The startup also announced that current 1871 CEO Betsy Ziegler has joined its board.
Position Summary
Verve Romance is seeking a creative, analytical, data driven, results driven marketing manager to manage Verve’s marketing execution.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Content team on all acquisition marketing content, providing feedback and direction to make the most effective creative.
- Partner with marketing strategist and content team to crack new channels, grow emerging channels, and optimize established channels.
- Create and execute success across digital media channels by evaluating behavior and running tight A/B tests against hypotheses.
- Manage paid channel/growth marketing campaigns
- Provide insight into the optimization of creative performance and digital shopping experiences for new customers, including analyzing the performance of ad creative, landing pages, and offer optimization.
- Manage and grow social media channels including launching new channels
- Ensure our brand and messaging is clear and consistent across all channels
- Oversee regular reporting of KPIs across acquisition channels.
Qualifications
- 4 years of marketing experience preferably for an ecommerce/DTC company with at least 2 years dedicated to running paid social advertising at scale.
- Early-stage web-based startup experience (ability to achieve results with scrappy campaigns and speak the language of “tech” fluently)
- Growth hacker mindset
- Demonstrated track record of success launching highly creative campaigns that have shown significant financial returns
- Ability to hit the ground running quickly while asking the right questions to fully understand where we are, where we need to go, and our limitations
- You stay ahead of cutting-edge trends and channel developments. You live and breathe the paid social and broader direct response ad industry. You’re a builder, optimizer and an executor.
- You have an ability to manage high visibility campaigns, while always seeking to optimize bidding/targeting/audience/creative strategy.
- You are a strategic, analytical problem solver with the proven ability to structure a data-driven approach to complex business problems.
- You are both right-brained and left-brained, can think big picture and have the ability to execute with great quality in the details.
